This tourist resort concept provides flexibility in designing and siting buildings with sensitivity to the sloping land forms and rainforest ecology. The site, in close proximity to Cairns, exhibits a portion of rainforest environment adjacent to world heritage parkland. These criteria invoked a minimal footprint and respect for existing ecology, stormwater and vegetation. Boardwalk access throughout the site suspends guests above the forest floor for passive observation of the surrounds.
This development is promoting best practice sustainable architectural design as well as the sought after “eco-tourism” experience.
