- The Esplanade of Palm Beach is a great location for restaurants, however al fresco covered areas are often a shortcoming in commercial premises design within this tropical climate. Edgearchitecture worked seamlessly with Queensland and local council to deliver a membrane structure spanning the adjacent footpath, accommodating restaurant patrons, pedestrians and landscaping all under a light filled membrane structure over. Rainwater is integrated into the structure enhancing shelter performance during the wet season.
- The previous internal dining spaces were opened towards the foreshore, introducing a new luminous themed bar engaging with patron seating and dining under the membrane shelter.
- Portofino has proved to be a timely success story in Palm Cove attracting locals and tourists alike with this graceful shade and shelter along the tropical foreshore.
